Khal Mohammadi
Khal Mohammadi

How Did We Start?

The history of the patterns began in Khal Mohammadi's birthplace of Andkhoy, and later continued with production in Kunduz, Mazar-i Sharif, Aqchah, and the small cities of Northern Afghanistan.

The founder of the Khal Mohammadi brand entered the wool dyeing business in 1963 and has managed to make a name for himself in these lands from 1978 to the present day.

Khal Mohammadi's inspiration came from ancient Turkmen carpets; some patterns were taken from tradition, while others were products of his own imagination. His true teachers were his customers; he listened to them carefully and paid great attention to understanding their needs.

The most important information about dyeing she received, however, was from her mother. Her mother was a master craftswoman who obtained dyes from vegetables and natural indigo and prepared wool and threads for many weaving families in the village using traditional methods.

Today, despite 40 years having passed, Khal Mohammadi carpets remain as popular as the first day. The reason for this is still the same:
The warmth of the natural palette, the richness of the patterns, and the sincerity of the craftsmanship...

Khal Mohammadi is not merely the name of a type of carpet. It is the name of an extraordinary carpet manufacturer;
and above all, it is the name of a generous and deeply compassionate man.
